The band celebrated it's 60th Anniversary in style with a Dinner Dance at Aberdeen's Tree Tops Hotel.

The evening was kicked off with the Junior band playing guests from the foyer to their tables. Ex-members, friends and family entered through a huge display of photos and memorabilia from the bands past. The Junior band performed a number of sets to great acclaim from the audience.

The Senior band soon followed, performing a number of sets specially arranged for the evening, including some lively sets with keyboards and electric guitar. Band President Gus McAskill welcomed the assembled guests and opened the evening.

A lovely meal was enjoyed by all, and was followed by a special birthday cake baked for the band by drummer Linsey Milne's father. Speeches were given by Gus McAskill, and an impromptu speech from ex-Bass Drummer "Big Jim" Inglis on how much he had enjoyed the band playing.

Due to timing clashes, 2 drummers were not able to receive their prizes at the solos during the afternoon. Lachlan Gibb was presented with 1st prize in the Under 17 Hornpipe & Jig, while Linsey Milne picked up 3rd the Adult Hornpipe & Jig.

One of the most memorable and heartfelt moments of the evening was surely the presentation of a silver pocket watch to Roddy MacDonald. Given Life Membership of the band in 2000, he refused a gift as he was still active with the band. His longest serving pupil, Mike Brown, said a few words and presented Roddy with his gift to a standing ovation.

The evening was rounded off with some lively ceilidh dancing to Shindig, while many stood around the bar and told tales of great days out with band that will be remembered for many years more.
